Title Retained

Sunday 26th August saw me attend the Kirkby Stephen Open 2018. Kirkby Stephen is a beautiful village in Cumbria. We have several good friends there who quite often come and support our local competitions here in Morecambe so it is only right that we return the favour and go to support their competitions. If it was not for darts we would never have found such good friends.

This years competition saw some great names from both Lancashire and Cumbria come together including Peter and Chrissey Manley, Dave Chizzy Chisnall & Tony Newell. Following the success of last years competition and being a bank holiday they also saw a great increase in numbers for both ladies and mens entrants. This years chosen charity was Childhood Leukemia.

Working my way through the 20 strong field of ladies I found myself yet again facing my darting friend (but foe on the oche) Kaz Kirkby. Kaz and I have had several battles in finals with me coming out on top of late. This was not one of our classic finals but after a long day I won 3.1 and retained my title from the year before.

I was honoured and very touched to receive my trophy from a young boy called Adam. At such a young age Adam has overcome some terrible things which has even included him almost passing away twice. This lad has had to battle to walk again and he's quite a player too playing Chizzy in the special event at the end of the evening. There are so many worthwhile charities out there but quite often childrens charities are overlooked. Overall the day raised £920 for the organisers to put toward their charity. I am sure this event will go from strength to strength.

Going forward I have another journey to Selsey for the England Classic and then a trip to Bridlington for the British Classic and Open but also for the Winmau World Masters which I have qualified for based on my BDO ranking.

Eagerly awaiting the start of the new County season too #redarmy #teamlancashire
