The Good, the Bad and the downright Ugly!

7th May we headed to Prestatyn for the Welsh Open. This competition is always well attended and so much fun. Arriving later than normal I didn't enter the Money in/out comp, I just chillaxed and prepared for the Welsh Classic on Saturday Morning.

I started slowly on Saturday. I had a very testing game in the last 32 against online foe Kim Holden. Luckily for me Kim wasn't firing as she usually. I managed to continue my run into the last 16.

However this is where my Welsh Classic journey ended. I faced the awesome OB in the next game. It was far from pretty by us both until Maria stamped her claim on her comeback with an utterly awesome last two legs. I'll take last 16 - more ranking points gained.

Sunday brought the main comp - The Welsh Open. A Gold WDF ranking event. I needed to do better. I started my charge against Colette Duffield. Another dangerous lady whom I had played online several times. Unfortunately, Colette just could not find the treble. I played a little more consistently but not how I can.

The next game was more like me, well until the Bad final leg at least. It felt Good playing Donna Thomas from Wales. I needed to try to continue the form, however it is sometimes hard when you're having to wait different time periods between games.

My next game was a BATTLE! I have played Kat several times and normally come out on top however this game she shot out of the blocks with a 180 & 138. I certainly had my work cut out for me as Kat rarely missed a treble and I was straying into the 5's. This one went all the way. It was a topsy turvy game for us both but I came out on top, just.

Into the last 16 I went. This is where my game got Ugly. No matter how I tried I could not seem to get my darts straight nor consistent. Against Paula Jacklin, that is suicide. This game had many twists and turns, with break after break. It was far from our best performance but sometimes you have to scrap it out to win and that is what we did. I managed to ping the final double to take the victory 4.3.

The last 8 I faced my Denmark roomie Anca Zilstra. Again this was an average game by us both where Anca came out on top. We had a lovely hug afterwards. Friends off the oche but enemies on it.

This is where my Welsh Open crusade ended. I did play pairs with Ally Smith and Callum Goffin and had the odd Twinkle of good darts but did no real damage. The singles are the events I try to focus on mainly as these lead to points and prize monies.

Despite taking home more ranking points after this competition I have dropped another placed in the WDF ranking table - to 8th.

Thank you to Peterson for your continued belief and support.

Bye to Wales, I'll miss you Steven Seagull!

Onto the Platinum Dutch event in a few weeks time. Plenty of time to get some practise in.
