First time at the Scottish Open big thanks to Dave Chisnall & Peterson for helping financially to enable me to get here.
I saw old friends and made new ones in the hundreds of people spread out among the grounds of the Normandy hotel buildings. Note to self to take own portable seat next year so I won't have to stand most of the time.
Friday night I found myself finding my bearings. However with 4 mins to closing I entered the Mixed triples and became a member of the Beavers with 2 gents from Scotland. These Gents had never gotten past first round in previous years so were ecstatic when we won our first two games.
Saturday was the day of the singles competition. My first game kicked off with a potential 12 dart leg, however due to my opponent being further back scoring wise I set up the double to take the first leg of a 3 nil victory in just 15 darts. My first & second games ended with victories for me.
I then came up against newly selected England squad member Maria O'Brien. This went down to a last leg shoot out where Maria hit the double to claim the victory, leaving me at last 32 stage. Lots of congratulations from spectators as to how I had played narrowly missing out on the board final.
Sunday was Pairs day. Myself and future sister in Law Heather Lodge teamed up again following our last pairing in Turkey which lead us to being knocked out at board final. This time we were determined to go further.
We won our board final and then came up against Fallon Sherrock & Casey Gallagher in the semi's (last 4 pairs). We lost this game but were with them all the way.
Proud of how we played. Gelled well together. Maybe next time we can go further still!
